You can use this template to make whirlybirds. Print this image and cut the strips along the dotted lines. An individual whirlybird is made by using scissors to make a vertical cut about 1" long down the center of the template. Make two horizontal cuts about a 1/2" below the vertical cut. Fold the "wings" down, and fold the whirlybird along the two cuts you made. Stand on a chair, and drop your whirlybird to make it fly. You might consult a whirlybird lesson plan at the PBS site
